“It made me realise that I’m not the only one (with fears).” Simon – road crash survivor used Back in the Driving Seat to overcome fear of driving at night.
“I thought I would never drive on a motorway again… But the good work continues. Two weeks ago I was called to a meeting down in Ascot which meant me driving on the M40 and M25. Later that week, I attended another meeting in Wolverhampton where I used the M42 and M6 (and passed the spot where I had my accident).
Before working with Back in the Driving Seat, I would never have attempted these journeys and whilst they require huge effort and concentration for me to make them, at least I feel as though I am in charge of the situation now.” Carla – road crash survivor used Back in the Driving Seat to overcome fear of motorways.
“Following my car accident, I had developed some very strong fears and had been struggling to deal with them for a very long time. I had been kidding myself that I was coping by simply avoiding driving or traveling in certain situations. Reading the book was extremely helpful – for the first time I realised that I wasn’t alone and I wasn’t unusual. I felt a sense of comfort and reassurance that other people had also struggled with issues and I could see that I needn’t feel isolated and trapped within my fears and it was in fact possible to understand and work on them. The book was a major step for me taking control of my situation and doing something positive to change it.” Tina's road traffic accident left her with a fear of motorway travel, which she overcame with the help of Back in the Driving Seat. |
